Winter Soiree: A Celebration of Spanish Arts

Winter Soiree (Washington DC) will celebrate the end of the year with live dance performances, a number of visual arts openings, cultural activities… and more surprises to come! Featuring L.A. Contemporary Dance Company with a performance by Hyosun Choi in excerpts of work by Spain's Elías Aguirre and Iker Karrera.

Celebrated at the Former Residence of the Ambassadors of Spain, a DC's historic architectural landmark, the Winter Soiree is a yearly cultural experience designed as a way to close the year surrounded by Spanish culture.

SPAIN DANCES is a program that fosters and supports the presence of Spanish contemporary dance in the United States and the collaborations between US dance companies and Spanish choreographers are meant to create new work and exchange practices.  In 2021 and 2022, the consulate flew out Elías Aguirre & Iker Karrera, respectively, Spanish choreographers selected by LACDC's artistic director Jamila Glass, to work with the company in week-long residencies.  2021 was the first time they partnered with a dance company on the West Coast.
