The Cultural Office of the Embassy of Spain through its cultural program, SPAIN arts & culture aims to promote Spanish culture in the U.S. through fruitful cultural exchanges among institutions and artists, fostering positive bilateral relations between our two countries. SPAIN dances is the dance program created by the Cultural Office of the Embassy of Spain that aims at fostering artistic dialog between Spanish and American dancers and choreographers.
Thanks to SPAIN dances, Spanish choreographer, dancer, photographer, and visual artist Elías Aguirre will participate in a dance residency in Los Angeles launched in collaboration with L.A. Contemporary Dance Company to develop new work. Aguirre combines contemporary dance with urban dance, Butoh and clown techniques, and has a special interest in the nature world, about insects. An internationally awarded artist, he runs his own dance company, Cía. Elías Aguirre, which is part of resident companies in Madrid. He also is the creator and director of CUERPO ROMO (Festival of outdoor dance).
This December, we are excited to begin a week-long residency with Aguirre that will conclude with a dance film directed by LACDC artistic director Jamila Glass. See how you can donate to preview the film and attend an in-person showing and reception HERE.
