The Cultural Office of the Embassy of Spain through its cultural program, SPAIN arts & culture aims to promote Spanish culture in the U.S. through fruitful cultural exchanges among institutions and artists, fostering positive bilateral relations between our two countries. SPAIN dances is the dance program created by the Cultural Office of the Embassy of Spain that aims at fostering artistic dialog between Spanish and American dancers and choreographers.
Thanks to SPAIN dances, Spanish choreographer and dancer Chey Jurado will participate in a dance residency in Los Angeles launched in collaboration with L.A. Contemporary Dance Company to develop new work. Jurado got initiated to the movement culture at the beginning of 2005 in urban dance styles (Breakin and Poppin) in a self-taught way. Winner of the Redbull BCone Spain four times, among other competitions, make him one of the most representative Spanish dancers in the international urban dance scene.
This December, we are excited to begin a week-long residency with Jurado that will conclude with a dance film directed by LACDC artistic director Jamila Glass. Stay tuned for more details.
