Stephanie Zaletel


 Born and bred in Las Vegas, NV, Stephanie Zaletel holds a BFA in Dance Performance/Choreography with a Minor in Humanities from the California Institute of the Arts. Zaletel has since performed for renowned choreographers ranging among Barak Marshall, Colin Connor (Artistic Director - Limon Dance Company), and in Danielle Agami’s Ate9 dANCEcOMPANY. Zaletel worked closely with Agami as the company’s rehearsal director from 2013-2014. Zaletel has presented her own creative work at The Center for Contemporary Arts in Santa Fe, NM, Velocity Dance Center in Seattle, WA, REDCAT LA, LAPP's LAX Festival, The Hammer Museum, ACE Hotel, Current LA's Public Art Biennial, and was a Finalist in the 2015 McCallum Theater Choreography Competition.

Her choreography has been featured in music videos for recording artists, Jofridur, clipping, and Maxi Wild, in collaboration with directors Samantha Shay and Patrick Kennelly. Zaletel is currently an educator at AMDA LA, and has led master classes and lectures at LMU, Cornish College of the Arts, Las Vegas Academy, and The Windward School. She has led improvisational movement classes for children with Down Syndrome as part of Lineage Pasadena's Youth Program. She was the 2016 MorYork Gallery Artist in Residence and is an active member of the Pieter Performance Space Council.

Zaletel has been commissioned to build new works by AMDA LA, Las Vegas Academy of Performing Arts and International Studies, and Los Angeles Contemporary Dance Company (LACDC).  moon& (August 2018) will be Zaletel's 5th evening length creation for szalt (dance co.) among the dozens of works created for this company since its fruition in 2012.

Zaletel is the founding artistic director of szalt (dance co.) in Los Angeles - tackling subjects of the feminine experience, body memory (specifically as it pertains to trauma), and dream logic while creating and facilitating highly collaborative, site-sensitive, and socially fluent dance performance and practice.

Stephanie choreographed the new LACDC work summer, which premiered at Atwater Village Theatre in Spring 2018.
