Company Member since 2015

Originally from New Jersey and raised as a gymnast in California, Ryan Ruiz started his dance training at the age of 17. His thirst for learning relocated him to Los Angeles to pursue dance as a career. He continued his studies honing his craft and artistry at The American Musical and Dramatic Academy receiving his Bachelors in Fine Arts in Dance Theatre. Upon receiving his BFA, he trained under an esteemed faculty including Tracy Silver, Genevieve Carson, Donyelle Jones, Nicole Berger, Yusuf Nasir, Tiffany Billings, and Hassan Christopher. He is trained in ballet, modern, contemporary, jazz, as well as voice and tumbling.

Ryan has been with LA Contemporary Dance Company since 2014 as a guest performer and is now a full-blown company member. While dancing with LACDC, he has worked and performed with other Los Angeles-based companies such as Invertigo Dance Theatre, Hart Pulse Dance Company, Atlas Obscura, ClusterFU and Core Contemporary Dance. He has also had the honor to work with a number of accomplished choreographers such as Daniel Ezralow (Sochi Olympics Opening Ceremony, Across The Universe, Spider-Man Turn Off The Dark) in his new production of Pearl at Lincoln Center in New York, fellow AMDA Alumni Cedric Dodd & Tasheena Medina, Adam Parson, Mecca Vazie Andrews, Rosalynde LeBlanc, Kate Hutter, Kevin Williamson, and Rebecca Pappas.

He is currently working on his own Etsy boutique Taper Nomad. He is delighted to be moving, dancing, collaborating, and laughing with these crazy fools and so many other great artists in Los Angeles.
