AUDITION NOTICE
Led by Artistic Director Jamila Glass and Executive Director Napoleon Gladney, L.A. Contemporary Dance (LACDC) is a performance company dedicated to showcasing the artistry of L.A. in live and digital experiences. We curate creative environments that harness the power of the collective, promote a sense of belonging, and champion exploration and learning without judgment. In our programming, we share a restlessness of soul and desire for connection with our collaborators and community.
Project Description
LACDC seeks empathetic movers with extensive experience in collaborative environments to develop new work for live performances, films, and learning experiences with which to build ongoing connections and community through dance. Capabilities include training in a wide range of foundational techniques and performed skill in floorwork, improvisation, partnering, movement creation, and social dances. Artists will be considered for paid part-time positions for the fall contract and future seasons/projects with required on-site presence in Los Angeles.
As a part of this fall creative residency, Collaborators and Artists will workshop experimental and new movement ideas, prioritizing discovery over mastery. All Artists will experience the same processes together, building an environment that nurtures growth and creativity.
Artists will work with all of the Collaborators whose movement vocabularies cover a wide range of dance forms, from ballet and floorwork to hip hop and improvisation, including speaking onstage during performance.

Rehearsal Schedule (beginning October 2):
October 2 - December 15, 2023 at Stomping Ground L.A.
--- Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays & Fridays from 12:00-5:00pm
--- Holidays off: Indigenous Peoples' Day (October 9), Thanksgiving (November 20-24)
--- Individual rehearsal schedule given upon hire
--- All dancers must be available for all rehearsals (NO CONFLICTS)

Date & Time: Wednesday, September 13, 2023 from 12:00-5:00pm
Location: Stomping Ground L.A., 5453 Alhambra Ave. Los Angeles, CA 90032
Pre-registration is required. All dancers must fill out the online registration form, which will include uploading a headshot, full body shot, and a resume. Register by Monday, September 11th at 6pm PST.
PRE-REGISTRATION IS CLOSED.
Callbacks: Thursday, September 14th from 12:00-5:00pm
2nd Callback: Friday, September 15th from 12:00-4:00pm
Callback Location: Stomping Ground L.A.
Select Artists from the Callback will be invited to interview with the Artistic Director, Executive Director, and Company Manager via Zoom September 16th-17th.
