LACDC | Andrew Pearson

Andrew Pearson, originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, moved to Southern California to study dance at the University of California, Irvine, where he received a BFA in dance performance and a BFA in choreography. While in school, Andrew had the fortune of studying with and performing choreography by many esteemed faculty including Loretta Livingston and Donald McKayle, including performing the role of "Sissy Boy" in McKayle's iconic piece Games. Since graduating Andrew has had a versatile career working in musical theater, television, and concert dance. In the world of modern and contemporary dance, some of the choreographers Andrew has had the opportunity to work with include John Jasperse, Jane Comfort, and Barak Marshall. Andrew is currently also a member of Nickerson-Rossi Dance, and has freelanced with many other LA based companies such as Lineage Dance Company, Nancy Evans Dance Theatre, BodyTraffic, and Clairobscure Dance Company. When he's not performing, Andrew teaches modern to high school students throughout the Southern California Area, as well as choreographs for musical theater, opera, straight theater, and concert dance. He is so excited to be a part of LA Contemporary and for the opportunity to continue to expand his experiences and knowledge of dance.
