PAST EVENTS (2010)

July 2010

LACDC Auditions

LACDC will be holding auditions for our 2010/2011 season on Saturday, July 24 from 10am-2pm.

We are looking for dancers who have a strong background in contemporary modern, jazz and/or ballet with experience in partnering and improvisation. Paid performances occur throughout the year, and LACDC is always looking for new talent to hire for performances and engage in new creative processes. This year in particular, we are looking for new male dancers to join the company. However, women who are interested in working with LACDC are encouraged to attend the audition, as well.

There is an audition fee of $20. Pre-registration is not required.

Registration and warm-up begins at 9:30am; Please bring a photo and resume.
Callback: Monday, July 26, 10am - 2pm.

The audition will consist of 2 hours of warm-up, moving phrases, and a short piece of choreography. Following this, a cut will be made to allow for a more intimate interaction with those dancers if deemed necessary by the Artistic Director. The last 2 hours of the audition will consist of further investigation of choreography and improvisation scores.

For the audition, we recommend wearing clothing that is flattering and body conscious, but that remains indicative of your personal style and emphasizes your unique movement qualities. Please be prepared to dance barefoot and bring kneepads for use during floorwork if needed.

**LACDC does not hold auditions on a "need" basis or by project. Instead, we hold auditions because we have a genuine desire to open up the company to the L.A. community, to meet new people who are interested in LACDC, and develop long lasting relationships with artists to form a company of dancers and guest artists to work together when opportunities arise. We do not have any immediate contracts to fill, but in order to be considered for work with the company throughout the season, you must attend one of our annual auditions.

**A typical contract with the company to develop a new production usually lasts 6 - 8 weeks with paid rehearsals and performances. Rehearsals take place on Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights from 6 - 10pm & Saturdays from 10am - 2pm at our rehearsal space - the Brockus Project Studios - located in downtown L.A.

We offer this information to help you better plan for your audition experience with LACDC and we greatly look forward to meeting you soon!
